Application Engineer Western US (Motion Controls)

The Company designs and manufactures ultra-advanced servo drives and network motion controllers that are small, smart and simple cutting-edge solutions for any need. Focusing on performance, reliability, safety and standards compliance, these products are integrated in a wide variety of applications from industrial to extreme environment automation.

The company is seeking an experienced Application Engineer to develop and support high precision single- and multi-axis motion control applications across industry verticals. The territory is Western US.

This is a home office position, reporting to the US Application Engineering Manager.

 

Responsibilities

  • Leverage expertise in advanced motion control theory and its real-world applications
  • Work closely with customers in the Automation industry and high-tech equipment manufacturers in the fields of Semiconductors, Mobile Devices and Flat Panel Displays, Life Sciences, Photonics, Warehouse automation, Aerospace, Animatronics and more, as a primary point of contact for remote and onsite application support and development
  • Work closely with sales engineers and partners to select and demonstrate products and features to potential customers
  • Apply detailed knowledge of products and features
  • Define requirements and test performance of new products and features
  • Provide technical training and presentations to customers and partners
  • Contribute and help develop white papers, application notes, videos, presentations, and other technical materials
  • Provide feedback to the Software, Firmware and QA on bugs, issues, feature requests, failure analysis. Recommend solutions to customers and factory.
  • Identify & alert management of short-term and long-term issues that must be addressed, recommend courses of action and implement corrective or preventative responses
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies

 

Requirements

  • Education: An undergraduate degree is required or higher in Electrical, Mechatronics, or equivalent Engineering, or Computer Science. Emphasis on electric motors and drives, feedback control systems, programming, control theory, robotics and power conversion
  • Related Industry experience with motion control products
  • Background in mechatronics / electronics / software & networking / environmental condition disciplines
  • Familiarity with and desire to gain proficiency with Industrial Networks and Communication Protocols. Advantage – knowledge in one or more of the following: EtherCAT, Ethernet UDP/TCP, CAN/CANopen (DS301 and DS402 standards), Serial, Modbus
  • Familiarity with and desire to gain proficiency with programming languages. Advantage – knowledge in one or more of the following: C, C++, C#, .NET, IEC61131-3, Python…
  • Familiarity with and desire to gain proficiency with applicable Safety Standards including but not limited to IEC 61800-5-2 and EN ISO 13849-1…
  • Familiarity with and desire to gain proficiency with industrial feedback devices such as Encoders and Resolvers
  • Travel: up to 50% travel within North America, mostly in the assigned geographical area; some international travel may also be required
  • CRM: Experience with SalesForce or other sales CRM system is desirable, but not mandatory
