Director of Sales and Business Development – Germany
Our client, an innovative Fintech start-up, is expanding into the German market with a sharp focus on Embedded FX Risk Management. The technology empowers financial institutions to integrate advanced currency risk solutions into their offerings, unlocking new revenue streams and delivering value to their clients.
We are seeking a highly driven, execution-focused Sales and Business Development Director, to establish the company’s presence in Germany, close strategic deals and develop partnerships with banks, fintechs and financial service providers.
Your Role:
As Sales and Business Development Director (Germany), you will be responsible for building the German market presence from the ground up. This role requires a mix of direct sales, strategic partnerships and market expansion efforts. You must have a strong understanding of FX risk management, embedded finance and the financial services ecosystem in Germany.
This is a home position, reporting to the CEO.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead Direct Sales Efforts – Identify, engage, and close deals with banks, payment companies, fintechs, companies developing accounting and treasury management systems, investment firms and FX brokers.
- Develop Strategic Partnerships – Recruit and onboard distribution partners such as ERP providers, treasury management platforms, corporate finance consultants, CPAs, accounting firms, tax advisors, financial software distributors and other key service providers, who can help generate connections and deals with the target audience.
- Market Expansion & Lead Generation – Build a robust pipeline by leveraging your existing network and actively generating new leads.
- Drive Product Adoption – Educate financial institutions on how the product can help them monetize FX risk management solutions.
- Position the company as a Thought Leader – represent the company in key industry events, speak to media when needed, and actively contribute to its visibility in the U.S. fintech space.
REQUIREMENTS
- Extensive experience in business development, FX risk management or fintech sales with a proven track record of closing high-value deals.
- Deep German financial industry network – strong existing relationships with banks, fintechs, investment firms and financial service providers.
- Strong understanding of FX risk management and embedded finance – ability to speak fluently about hedging strategies, FX derivatives, and API-driven FX solutions.
- Success in leading market entry efforts in previous roles – advantage
- Confident communicator & deal closer – you can sell complex financial products to C-level executives at financial institutions.
- Startup mindset – comfortable working in a fast-moving, high-growth environment with no local team support.
- Flexibility to travel as needed
